Whether you like it or not, you are part of the system. This means you follow, at the very least, certain norms that have become a convention through years of growing up- you use a bank, you have a job to pay the bills, etc.
The way I see it, this system is like a game. There is a prize (money), rules to follow, and a competition where the best player wins.
You have 2 options: rebel or try to play with the existent rules.
Most people think that by rebelling you are not playing the game, but I’d like to argue, that eventually you end up playing the game- just a bit smarter. For example, you can go against the rules and renovate the way people think about taxis-like Uber did. It will all be cool and hip and free until you are big enough that you’ll need rules and regulations to keep a structure and organization within the business. You’ll also need capital, so you’ll need to make presentations, go through company policies, etc. Sooner or later, you’ll get trapped in the game.
Innovators don’t go against the game… they learn how to play smarter
Now, I don’t believe the game is bad… I believe we should embrace it! Stop complaining about the system and the “rat race” and do something about it. Learn how to play the game smarter than everyone else. Learn a new skill, sell something, hustle!
